Lego Star Wars

My son and I both love the cantina scene in Star Wars Episode I A New Hope. We were extremely excited to get it as Lego. Beside missing the Imperial Sandtrooper, the Mos Eisley Cantina Lego set (#4501) is complete and in very good condition.

We got the Luke Skywalker, Ben Kenobi, Han Solo and Greedy figures along with a Dewback and the section of the cantina where Han meets Greedo. The complete set had 193 pices and was released in 2004.

Lego Star Wars

One of the Lego Star Wars set we got was the Imperial Shuttle (#7166). Released in 2001, the set has 234 pieces, comes with four figures but we got five. Originally the Emperor, two Royal Guards and a Imperial pilot came with it but we got a very cool Darth Vader as a bonus!

The shuttle is rather big, as an opening window in the front, a loading bay for characters in the back and the wings actually move. Its crazy to know that when it came out this set was selling for $35 US but now goes for around $140 on Ebay! Lucky for us, we got it for only $20 (and it is complete along with the manual).

Lego Star Wars

Last month I managed to find the very cool Star Wars Tie Fighter Interceptor Lego set (#6202). It came with a Tie fighter pilot. Well I now got my son a Lego Darth Maul along with two IG-88 figures. We love the Lego toys and the Star Wars collection is simply amazing!

Here's our collection so far... more to come in the next days!

Lego

A couple of months ago I subscribed my son to the free Lego Club magazine. Well it finally arrived and let me just say that my son was so proud of receiving mail he went almost crazy! While the mag is mainly a way for Lego to advertise their new products it is still extremely cool.

Created in Denmark in 1949 by Ole Kirk Christiansen, the Lego Group have released probably trillions of these little colorful interlocking plastic bricks that have helped building the imagination of kids and adults around the world.

Today a huge Lego subculture exist and is worship around the world. In the coming days we'll be posting all of the amazing Lego sets we recently got.

Star Wars McDonald's

Through the years McDonald's have released some cool Star Wars toys with their Happy Meal. Last February, a Clone Wars collection was out. It features some characters and spaceships. From these we got an Anakin and Yoda (missing from the picture, sorry).

In the summer of 2008, another Clone Wars Happy Meals collection was released. It features bobblehead type figure on the top of their respective spaceship. In total 18 were released. Here's the few we got.

Star Wars Kentucky Fried Chicken

While not as cool as the Burger King collection, around 1999 with the release of The Phantom Menace, the Kentucky Fried Chicken chain released some Star Wars based figures, spaceships, globes and cube.

I am not sure just how many items were released but we probably own most of them. One Jar Jar Binks is missing from the images.

Star Wars Burger King

These are the last batch from the very cool Star Wars Burger King collection released a few years ago. Here are all of the spaceships. Apart from that sea creature from The Phantom Menace, all of them actually can roll on the floor once pushed back. In the next days We'll look into the Star Wars toys we own that were released by Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonald's.

100th post! Vintage Star Wars

This is our 100th posts! Thank you to everyone who have been reading our blog! Its been a great ride so far and it is far from over!

For only two bucks we recently won on Ebay the very cool Return of the Jedi Tie Interceptor. This spaceship is big and looks very nice. The dagger-shaped wings can be taken off (exploded) by pressing buttons on each sides. Released in 1984 by Kenner this goes for around extremely high on Ebay.

Star Wars Burger King

Here's the monsters/creatures from the Burger King collection. The Jawa's eyes illuminate when you press his stomach. I've got to admit that I never though a Wampa could be that cute. Jabba is also a nice figure from the collection.

Star Wars Burger King

Here's the heroes from that cool Burger King collection. They all look very nice and nicely sculpted. Han Solo actually comes in a carbonite freezer that break itself open when you activate it. Yoda is a personal favorite of mine and he jumps three times backward.

Star Wars Burger King

Back in 2005, the Burger King restaurants released a very cool Star Wars Kids Meal collection. Thirty one toys spanning all six Star Wars movies were released. Now I've never been a fan of Burger King but someone I know was. After going through the pain and madness of eating Burger King to own them all he sold them to me!

These were the very first introduction to my son to the Star Wars universe. I gave it to him and explained what they were... but he hadn't even celebrated his first birthday. Now at three and a half years old, he is a Jedi (or Sith depending of the day) master who appreciate George Lucas' imaginative universe just like his father did and does even today. Through the coming days we'll take a look at that unique collection.

Here's my son taking a picture with the bad guys. Some of them moves, shoots water or have a diaporama in them with images from all six movies. Darth Vader actually opens in two and you can put Anakin in it, extremely cool!

Imaginext Batman

Fisher Price's Imaginext collection was one of the very first action figures my son got into. Remiscent of the Adventure People from when I was a kid, the Imaginext are well made figures, accessories and playsets.

About a year ago, they released some Batman based Imaginext. My son got Batman and the batmobile for his last birthday. Unfortunately the rest of the collection is extremely hard to find around here but Toys R Us finally received some new ones.

I got my son the Joke and Penguin Villain van. Both figures are well sculpted. The van fires a missile and the front and backdoor actually opens. Its very cool plus it was 30% off that day!

Star Wars

A couple of weeks ago, my son and I were at Toys R' Us and saw this amazing Star Wars poster they had. Unfortunately that day the cashiers weren't working (why were they even still opened is beyond me) so we simply couldn't buy it. Finally last weekend we managed to go back and buy it.

I have to say that my son is extremely proud of it. It is now on his wall in his room and he is always looking at it. The other morning when I woke up, I realized that he was already awake, still in his bed and simply looking at the poster. Now that's dedication! Here's a better look at that amazing poster that features most of the coolest characters from the Star Wars universe.

Toy Story

The day Toy Story 3 came out in theaters, my son and I went to see it. We both loved it. We both laughed and cried. Pixar have a way with story telling that very few studios manage to achieve. I have been Toy Story fans for years , well since the first film came out actually.

My son owns a 12" Woody and Buzz dolls but for this post I decided to have only the figures we own. We only own two so far but do plan on getting more... hopefully soon.

Flea Market Hunting: Star Wars

My brother's girlfriend just gave birth to a beautiful new baby girl. Since they live minutes from the flea market, we decided to make a quick stop to see if anything cool was there before going to their place. With the weather not being really nice in the morning, few tables were set but we did managed to find something.

A battle damaged Snowspeeder released from Hasbro in the late 1990s. As you can see it is missing lots of parts but my son still loves it. Plus we got it only for a few bucks so we couldn't pass on it. The night before we were watching The Empire Strike Back on the projector. I love the battle sequence on Hoth.

Vintage Star Wars

Not the most exciting post we had but still... I just remembered that part of the vintage Star Wars we got the other week I forgot to mention that we got some speederbikes! Always been a fan of the wicked cool bikes from Return of the Jedi. I used to own one as a kid. Now my son has three which are more or less complete. They've been a lot of fun lately, especially having some Stormtroopers on them and of course exploding them!

Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice...

Since I now finish earlier on Fridays, I went directly to pick up my son to spend the afternoon with him. Within two minutes of being at our place, almost all of his Star Wars collection was on the floor. I decided to take some pictures before playing with him.

As always, the Rebels had the SuperPowers' Hall of Justice as their headquaters while the evil Empire ruled in Wayne's Manor/Batcave.

The infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett captured Han Solo and put him in the carbonite freezer. Disguised as a bounty hunter, Princess Leia tried to save him but got killed by an Imperial Tie Fighter. Some Jedis went out for revenge (I know this ain't they way of the Jedi but you have to say that to my son) but got easily kill by Darth Maul.

Influenced by the evil Emperor, Anakin Skywalker became a Sith lord and fought his friend Obi-Wan Kenobi on that fire planet I can never remember the name. Once again the evil Empire reigned supreme!

Star Wars

Last weekend while looking at some stuff on Kijiji I found someone online who was selling some Star Wars spaceships for a few bucks. After a few emails I set up a meeting with him. Everything was in great condition! Needless to say that the next day when my son arrived at our place he was so happy!

One of the spaceship I got my son is the grey and yellow one that Anakin pilot near the end of The Phantom Menace. Unfortunately I don't remember its name, sorry. It is in perfect condition, still makes sounds, fire a missile, can hold an action figure and has an R2-D2 head on the back. Its a neat spaceship.

Anakin Skywalker's Jedi Starfighter from Revenge of the Sith was the other spaceship I got him. Looking at it closely, you can see that it was heavily inspired by Darth Vader's Tie fighter. It is in perfect condition, fire missiles and comes with half of a R2-D2 figure which you can replace with a full R2 figure. The wings also open for attack mode. The cockpit open to hold an Anakin figure.

Here's a picture my son absolutely wanted me to take for our blog:

Vintage Star Wars

Another spaceship we got from the Ebay buyer was a 1982 battle damaged X-Wing for $5. It is in great condition and still looks cool. We already owned the original 1978 X-Wing, from my personal collection as a kid but I guess we can never have enough X-Wing to take on the Empire and the Death Star!

The wings open when R2-D2's head is pressed down and it makes a laser sound with the led in the nose lights up when the fire button is pressed. Here's a pic of our two X-Wings.

Vintage Star Wars

Another spaceship we got from the Ebay seller is the incredible original 1984 Star Wars Return of the Jedi Imperial Shuttle! Standing at over 21" tall, this thing is HUGE! The automatic wings spread to about 3 feet when lowered. It is so big my son has problem lifting it.

Many figurines can be place in the front and on the side including a special bay door for Darth Vader or the Emperor to get out. I won't mention just how much this cost me but let me just say that it was nothing... nothing especially when you look at just how much people are asking for it on Ebay these days.

Vintage Star Wars

When my son and I went to pick up the six Star Wars figures I had won on Ebay things got a little strange. It was as if I met a drug dealer. Looking strangely at us, he asked me if we were looking for anything else. Of course I told him... He asked me to wait a few minutes.

Lo and behold, a few minutes later he arrived with some must own vintage Star Wars vehicules. One of them being the original 1979 Millenium Falcon released by Kenner. As a kid this was probably my most wanted spaceship, which unfortunately I never got. Needless to say without any hesitation I told him that we would take the Falcon... and some others (more on these in coming days).

Just like me, my son loves Han Solo and Chewbacca. They are two of the coolest characters of the whole Star Wars universe. So we needed the Falcon. And now we own it. It is almost complete and in rather good condition.

Vintage Star Wars

I managed to win a couple of vintage Kenner Star Wars figures for my son on Ebay. The seller lives near our place so I saved on the shipping. In the end, all six figures cost me $13. All of them are in great condition and with their respective weapons.

As a kid I never owned the Death Squad Commander but now he's part of our collection. Vintage Chewbacca still looks great after all these years. This was one of the original first three figure I got back when they first came out. That little Power droid was another figure I never owned.

My son loves R2-D2, so its no surprise that R5-D4 is now also a favorite. The FX7 droid isn't the coolest figure of the galaxy but having a doctor can always be helpful. Finally, Greedo is probably one of the coolest figure from the original series.

But this whole deal ended up costing me much more then I expected. Once we got there, the seller asked me if we we're looking for anything else... of course we were! In the coming days I'll post about all the crazy stuff we got including two HUGE spaceships!
